Thanksgiving, My Traditions and Fashion

With Thanksgiving right around the corner I thought I would talk to you guys about how I dress for the occasion. As well as tell you a little bit on how we celebrate Thanksgiving in our house.

Our Thanksgiving celebration is really casual and low key. We get up really early and get the turkey started. As well as the stuffing made, since some of it goes into the turkey. Then we have breakfast as the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade starts. This is a tradition in our house to watch the parade. We even flip back and forth between channels. After breakfast we start cooking the rest of our food. We usually eat around noon or 1 o’clock. All while this is going on, I am in my sweats. Making our Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work so I want to be comfortable as well as the rest of our family.

After the parade is over we always watch the dog show. We love dogs and love seeing all the different breeds that are out there. As well to see if our favorites win. By the time food is done and we eat, I usually haven’t changed. I need room for all the food I am going to eat. Lol. Some of the others sometimes change but most of the time not. Like I said, we are super casual on Thanksgiving. It’s just our immediate family so who do we have to impress.

After we eat, I definitely take a nap, I am usually pretty tired by then. Also we go Black Friday shopping so I need some sleep before we are out all night.

Black Friday shopping, is crazy but fun. We just started going Black Friday shopping 4 or 5 years ago. It can be kind of hard to decide on how to dress. Thanksgiving giving weather in Iowa can be crazy, anything from being really warm to having snow and ice. I usually try and dress comfortable but warm so I don’t have to wear my winter coat. It’s bulky and I can’t move in it very well then I get hot and have to carry it.

I haven’t fully planed on what I am going to wear this year, I am planning on wearing leggings of some sort. I bought a couple of pair of cute christmas leggings last year. So I may wear one of those or just my plain black pair. For a shirt, I am going either wear a sweater or sweatshirt. Again I want to wear layers to be warm but not to hot. As well as not have to wear my winter coat. Shoes are up in the air a well. It depends in the weather, so I will either wear my tennis shoes, my Bear Paw (Ugg like boots) or my Minnetonka moccasins that are fuzzy on the inside. Or I may just wear one my fashion boots. Which I wear does need to be comfortable to walk in for long periods of time.

How do you guys celebrate Thanksgiving. Are your celebrations super casual like ours or are the formal or somewhere in between.

Do you go Black Friday Shopping, and brave the craziness?
